This has probably been answered a bunch of times but how tall will this be during the 2012 olympics, or will it be completed and opened by then?

It was dusk so the light from a crane above the core could be seen too. Tallest in London by December maybe - aprox another 90metres (130m -> 220m) to become that tall I think.
The tallest in London at this moment is 235 metres.

It will be complete several weeks before the Olympics. Externally complete in mid-late 2011, I'd imagine.

Cladding is now clearly visible on the main webcam, btw.

you know the one thing i dont like about the dubai night skyline are those bright red aircraft warning lights...so...hoping they dont stick them on this beauty...will ruin it at night....ok..always better than having a plane prang there but they are a eye sore.

the proximity of Heathrow and its height means that its almost a certainty that it will have a red warning light on top of it.

Yeah itís a dead sert. There might be more than one too, as the shard has four different tips to it. Donít think of it as a bad thing though, itís not like itís the only one. The Herron will have one when the spire finally goes up.

Letís just hope the Shard will have a white flashing beacon, just like Canary Wharf.

The glass reminds me of 7WTC. Very nice. This tower is going to look even better than the renders when finished.
