Thanks for the pics. This will be a gorgeous, sleek, modern, soaring building. A real trophy for London and the UK!

Sure, if you like skyscrapers and you're ever in Europe. Be sure to pay London a visit.

As this photo by gothicform demonstrates, London is getting a skyline to be proud of. There are 25+ buildings in this shot higher than 100 meters.

In front of the black tower to the right of the Gherkin, you can see a blue crane of a 288m tower U/C in the city.

My daughter is on a school trip in London now, I asked her to take some pictures.
"Ahh dad, I'll be too busy, but if I can find some time...".

One question though... the part of the cladding at the corner that sticks out,
will they have to wash "both" sides when this tower is done?

The cladding is so perfect it will cause traffic accidents.

Here is an update (by Thursday evening) of the Shard in its context of the London skyline, seen from the Millenium bridge.

Great updates guys!

I'm looking forward for the flooring to get more visible over the surrounding buildings.

Im only seeing the thumnbails here with no link to the larger original. The link takes you to flickr's homepage not the large versions.
Also, I assume the core's slowing for a week or so while they reconfigure it for the slightly narrower section. It's hard to tell (as we don't have any drawings - only a youtube schematic video I think) how many sides of the core will 'setback' at this level. I'd guess 2 only. Then 2 more when it gets up to the next setback level of level 52.
Of course if anyone's found any links to the drawings it'd be good to see them. I remember once when I found the "secret" pdf of the Burj Dubai indicating it's real height as 808 metres (back when the companies were saying officially it'll be taller than 500 metres, and there were rumours of anything from 600-1000m!)

Thanks for the update - but if I were to be real picky I'd point out there appears to be 2 floors missing between 37 and 66 in your drawing
