Jesus guys is looking dirty, but I'm genuinely one of the people who would be gutted if it was reclad/demolished... I reckon in 100+ years people will see how amazing it is...

Great shot! Gives us a good idea of just how big this building will be at the end.

Here's a few behind-the-times shots from June 23rd, taken with one of my film cameras (a Canon A-1) using Ilford FP4+. It took a while to get them developed and scanned.

There's a few more over the couple of pages following this in my Shard Gallery.

What's with the red framing in the windows, anybody? If it was blue, yes, but the red in those pics is not aesthetically pleasing to a reflective glass and steel structure!

As previously discussed, they're the blind boxes (the blinds themselves will be light grey).

I like it. Renzo Piano likes it.

Guys is great, It must be the tallest brutalist building in the world! I just think it has a certain charm about it is all, and I now see how impressive it is- peoples opinions change over time, and I reckon one day this building will be treasured!

Plus someone mentioned the only ugly thing about the shard was the reflection of guys in the cladding- well I disagree, I think the crystal glass/ concrete contest very well together! Beauty and the beast! I think the shard us the beast tbh (but a darn good looking beast)

But remember its function is a hospital, yet looks like a combination of a tombstone and a communist era prison watch tower!.. its a place to go to die rather than get better!
As an object on paper or in model form, within the era it was built, with the context of a forward looking post war modernism, great!... but as a working hospital in the 21st Century,.. well, the reclad is long overdue and the watch tower needs to go. I hate to say that because I love the diversity of London's architecture, and brutalism clearly has its place (not sure where!), but for me the views of the Shard are ruined by it!

Looking at the webcam page - I thought it looked like the core is rising again - and the set backs were visable - can anyone confirm?

This is the webcam page collection - wish it was in higher resolution - and that there was a camera nearer the core!

Well, we get high quality updates almost daily anyway, so no need to worry about the webcam's low resolution, we'll see it soon in full quality.
