The diagrams much appreciated!... but what with the speed of the core Culmulla's diagram is already 3 floors out of date! I thought I saw that floor 44 was visible now below the core block - so they're working on 46 or 47 now... and I think the core's rising again now (again it's rising one floor every 2 days (or faster) at the moment, or 4 floors a week!).
Also - hate to say it but 3 horizontal floor lines are missing on Culwulla's diagram, counting floors up from 40 you get to 63 when it says 66 ... so the floor lines need redrawing slightly closer in that midsection.

I think Culwulla's missed them lines in the sketch for a reason. They may well could be the public levels and restaurant. Check out this model;

I bet the residents of the Shard's flats will have the most exclusive view in the city.

Sorry if this has been posted before, but I saved this off the Shard website (where credit is due) in October 2005.

It's a simulated view, from near the top of the Shard looking outwards.

So, indeed, the best view in London.

I've not seen this before. I think the London Eye will be out of a job when the Shard opens. Great post percy07 .

A rather prosaic question considering the rapid progress being made on this tower but I just wonder if anyone knows how they propose to clean this massive expanse of glass?

I know that we have self-cleaning glass nowadays but I don't think that you can do away completely with window cleaners. I can't see how, with a sloping profile, it will be possible to access all of the tower from the outside. Possibly they will adopt a gherkin solution with a long extending arm at the top of the tower moving the cleaning cradle further and further out as it travels downwards but the distances involved would seem too great for that.

Whatever the solution, I hope they come up with a method that doesn't detract from the appearance of the tower. I always think that the gherkin's appearance would be greatly improved without those two window cleaning rails just beneath the dome.

I love the speed of construction on this one. I wish more towers could be built this fast.

Using saved webcam pics as a guide... since the morning of the 15th the climbing form work has climbed the height of the form work! It's 2 floors tall - so that's 2 floors, 2 days! Incredibly fast!
We're going to be talking about the pause for the next setback soon!

Slightly off-topic, but I only just realised that Cannon Street station has a roof garden. Is it open to the public?

Also, it's crazy how tall the tower now looks after the stepped-back core rose a bit.
