God the pic below reminds me of the time, when Tabard Sq was effectively the biggest tower under construction (the lonely tower in the midground to the right of the picture). I can't imagine what we used to discuss on the UK forums in those days with so few schemes to talk about.

Especially by Japanese tourists, who always want to see everything, always bring 3 cameras with them and take 50 pictures of each building.

(No offence to the Japanese, they are the most polite tourists I've ever known).

The core has risen so fast since the setback that we should expect it to stop growing for a while pretty soon.

The core will stop rising and the still will catch up. It has been that way since the beginning.

Highly doubt it as the building is a hospital and there is no need to get rid of it....there are plans for it to be re cladded though. I on other hand like the building i would'nt mind if they just cleaned it up a little

I don't mind Guys too much either - it's a beast but I think because it's a hospital it's all right.

Guys would be okay with a reclad. I don't like the way it is now.

The bit I really hate of Guy’s is the top of the East tower, the bit that looks like a head. Just seems very gimmicky. And the re-clad doesn’t help it wither, although it would look 100% better.

It's starting to get very tall now, that's cool . To be honest, I expected the clad to look great from all angles but as far as I can see (cf Portonuts's pic) it looks pretty plain in the sun (at least in that picture), it reminds me of another skyscraper whose clad is wicked when the weather's cloudy/dark and quite 'so-so' when very blue/sunny...but I'm gonna wait for the whole building to be cladded to give my verdict though. The Shard's architecture is very pretty, would be sad if its clad was not up to it.

Guy's looks terrible & shabby in that picture, I wish Shard was not that close to it...but as far as I remember, the new clad planned next year looks great, pretty much 'scales looking' if I'm not mistaken, it will make Guy's look so much better.
