The quality of the photographs in this thread is stunning. Somehow, every week, the previous batch is upstaged... only to be upstaged again!

I have no doubt in the ability of the photographers, but perhaps it is the progress of the tower which lends itself to even greater photographic opportunities. Keep up the amazing work London.

What an ugly building. The highrise next to Da Shard. I'm sure many have mentioned it but heck... it's really funking ugly! Hopefully no one will notice it when Da Shard is completed. Go London!

It’s called contrast good sir. And it will work in both Guys and 'Da' Shards favour.

Guys actually doesn't look that bad in the last photo, with the sun hitting it and its visible surface looking less dirty than usual.

I think if an expensive reclad isn't possible, a good clean and a coat of lighter paint might make it a bit less ugly.

There's a recladded version of Guys in Florida:

The Shard looks so overwhelmingly huge in some of those pictures. Does it have that effect in person?

As far as I'm aware it is the first Supertall building in Europe. I guess Moscow is Europe but not in the European Union, which is why this building will be classed as tallest in Europe. It looks like it's really making an impression on the skyline now, I hope there will be more beautiful buildings like this in London in the future. Sorry Commerzbank Tower but you can kiss your crown goodbye...

There are pretty tall buildings in Frankfurt, Paris and Madrid, 250m-300m. So it depends what you call supertall. But it will certainly be the tallest building in the EU. The current tallest is Commerzbank in Frankfurt (300m to the top of the spire).

The reason this building will be classed as tallest in Europe is because it's almost ten meters taller than City of Capitals in Moscow.

The spire on Commerzbank takes a lot of credit for the height, where as the roof ends at 259m. I find that a lot of buildings have spires that make up that extra height, I kinda feel cheated in a way. Oh well...

I would like to visit Moscow, never been to Russia but I think it would be interesting to see. London and Moscow will certainly be interesting in times to come!

That's irrelevant, though, since the Shard will be completed much earlier. It does not change the fact that the Shard will be the tallest building in Europe.
