Maybe. But if it was in the USA or Europe I'd be very interested, and super jealous.

And they're probably waiting for the steel work to catch up a bit before they crack on with the core.

Great photographs as always Cybertect.

Did you use a special lens for the last photo, or some sort of geometric distortion correction? The perspective seems odd, unless it's just me.

Interesting picture though.

Ta - Lightroom 3 has built in correction for geometric distortion. So the verticals are vertical.

I'd like to be able to afford a Canon TS-E 24mm lens to do it in the camera, but £1700 is a little out of my price range at the moment

What a monster! This building is amazing, love the glass on it. The only thing I wish was different was the red, especially after looking at some of the panes that don't have it. To me it seems to be very prominent when shots are taken closer to it.. I think if they had to choose a color, blue or white would have better suited for it. I can't wait to see this finished though, it shall be top notch.

Until one of your forumers noticed how high-quality the build is, quality seems to be a rarity over there. Tall or nothing, and as long as it's bigger than another building somewhere else in the world you think it's automatically better.

No, because it would be too hidden among the grotesque monstrosities Dubai likes to call skyscrapers, smog and sand storms for anybody to notice.

This will become one of London's new landmarks. Great building.

Well said, I myself have noticed a distinct lack of taste in Dubai.

I seem to remember someone speculating that the slice effect in the glazing may have been value engineered out. As you can see in this pic it has been excecuted beautifully.

cybertect's photos demonstrate the vast array of angles and interesting juxtapostions that are possible when photographing the Shard. I like this shot posted by pingyao showing the contrast of ancient and modern:

I also think it's too early to start internal work, even though they've got a lot to do. Offices, multimillion flats and the Shangri-La Hotel. Perhaps whgen the cladding reaches higher levels they will start that.
