Not until it surpasses the City of Capitals Moscow in height, which won't be until this structure is nearly T/O'd.

I was in London today, and decided to take a few pics of the Shard with my phone while walking around.

First, I must comment that photos don't do justice to its size. The Shard is absolutely massive compared to other buildings in the area, and it completely dominates(in a good way!) its part of the skyline. People talk about Guy's ruining the Shard's view, but I barely even noticed it from most angles. I already know that it's going to catch many people's eye when it's completed, if not already.

Anyway, without further delay:

From the opposite bank of London Bridge:

After crossing the bridge, on the road leading to the bus/train station:

And two shots from the Millennium Bridge:

There's another core setback if I'm not mistaken.

The latest design of the Guy's Tower reclad have emerged....

The original concrete will be cleaned/restored with new windows and a metallic cladding fitted...

Overall a vast improvement , which i think will complement The Shard rather well....

The full PDF for the project can be downloaded here....

I think I actually prefer that reclad to the previously proposed, far more radical one. Guy's does have some architectural merit, if only a little. Now it'll be able to showcase it without looking like a heaping pile of shite.

I prefer this latest proposal too, keeps a lot more of the character of the existing building, its not gimmicky

Yes this one seems better. The previous project made the building look to glitzy and a bit ridiculous.

Not considered a skyscraper by definition though. Mercury Tower in Moscow will take that prize (unless Federation Tower goes back to work), and The Shard will be the tallest in the EU.

The question was about the tallest structure, not the tallest skyscraper.
