well Quill a 108 m tall skyscraper is approved its not really tall but it will form a cluster with the shard and Guys. I think 1 180m+ tower would give a good cluster then the shard doesnt look like standing alone.

There could a cluster alongside the Shard, but it still would have to be the star.

I don't think the Shard needs a cluster. It is a great landmark which deserves to be seen miles away.

Well, if all skyscrapers planned for the City are built, there won't be room for much more, unless they go for mass demolition. Southwark could handle more skyscrapers, so it would provide office space while being close to the City. The financial district could expand southwards.

I agree. London doesn't need any more supertalls. There should be a lot more skyscraper class towers there before any more supertalls, otherwise they stick out like a sore thumb.

must say

that tall building beside the shard looks incredibly ugly. Infact for some reason looks like communal housing in soviet countries.

Is this building something called "council housing" or something like that?

they should do a favour to the london skyline and tear it down.

That's Guy's Hospital. There are plans to reclad it, although I'm in the huge minority that likes it the way it is.

I don't think the city is going to run out of space any time soon. There is currently around 9,500,000 sq ft of approved office space.

Plus there's always Canary Wharf which is prime land for more tall buildings. If we need space, we will probably be getting rid of the ugly 60's brutalist blocks, that are just an eyesore due to being cheap.
