Yes, that could also be a good atmosphere for pics.

The core has topped out, but the building hasn't, another 70m to go ontop of the core I think.

It's taken 10 years to get the project to this point.

As a slight aside (literally) the dismantling of the bus station roof has begun today. This will make way for a new railway station concourse, which will be integrated into The Shard and adjacent The Gem/The Place projects and new bus station by Renzo Piano.

Took this photo on my way home this evening...

For posterity, a few days ago I snapped the British Rail logo and London Underground roundel that were affixed to the valence formerly in the top right of the photo above

... and I couldn't neglect The Shard itself while I was on my way to the station, could I

There's this one: New London Bridge House - "The Gem" | Southwark | 88m | 18 fl | Demo

but I think you knew about that already.

There's also the London Bridge Quarter web site, which takes in The Shard, The Place and the Station.

Will the concrete core rise or it's done? What with spire floors?

The core is complete (at about 245m IIRC).

There's steel to go on top to the full height.

This site pretty much tells us what we already know but it’s good to see it written down. “The existing canopy roof over the bus station will be removed over the four weekends in March”.

And another very good site explaining the planned works on London Bridge bus station; http://www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/proj...mes/17103.aspx

It's about time they started to build upwards in London.
We've no skyscrapers that are notable...and this new addition will look amazing.

Great pictures there cybertect. If I still lived down that way I'd have gone and taken some myself!
I hope to see more from you as the construction develops!

Ben.

Of course it is, there hasn't been a film set in London in this past years not to focus quite a bit in The Gherkin.
