Some of the best photos of the Shard on this page. This tower looks better and better all the time.

Hi all.

I dont know if this has already been covered here (sorry if it has!) and maybe this is a really stupid point to make... But I have been watching them build the new crane ON the Shard over the last couple of weeks. And not only does it worry me that it will fall off at any time, but I am totally at a loss as to how they will get it down from it's perch when they are finished!?

I mean, I understand that those cranes can deconstruct themselves down to ground level so they are small enough for a mobile crane to finish off, but that crane is still gonna be at 600ft or whatever, even when it has taken all the parts of its own tower out. Am I missing something really obvious?

don't worry the crane at the top is attached to the core pretty tightly although i have to admit the way it just hangs with its steel base off the concrete floors made me realise how strong that concrete really is

I'm not a specialist but your diagrams are always very accurate.

Taken on my way home about an hour ago. The joys of a small-ish camera I can keep with me

Flights arriving or departing over central London will have an additional charge because of the Shard's views.
