Of course he took them. That quality is almost a trademark.

Brilliant pictures chest!

You are extremely annoying. Why ask a question like that and then answer it yourself assuming that he didnt take them. Just because you are a moderator doesn't mean you can stamp your weight around. If you ask a question like that in the future wait for an accurate reply.
Chest is a well known and respected contributor to these forums, his photographic contributions have been first class and second to none for many years on here. So yes....they are his photos. Tread a bit more carefully around here if you want to be treated with a bit of respect.

Its deceptive, there's plenty of space up top, the top 3 floors are the viewing galleries so no need for them to be massive. Below that are the penthouse appartments costing many millions, again, no need for them to be massive, below that are the hotel appartments which require moderate space to make for a profitable use of space. Then below that you have the offices which has a mass of space. The shape of this building has been used to full effect.
Who wants another boxy or whacky shaped building? This building is elegant and light and not to heavy for its location, beautifully recognisable - a true icon.

I know that he may have asked a question that appeared to be flawed, but it seems a bit brash to respond in the way that you did. Maybe he wasn't familiar with the fact that Chest took the pictures him/herself. But it just seems a bit drastic to reply to a simple question as if it was a serious offense. I know you were just answering his question, but it still seems a bit over the top.
No hard feelings though.

Although the Shard is being built in an area locally designated as suitable for high-rise buildings I feel the area is fairly constricted in this regards. The Shard sits next to a major railway station and a large hospital site nestled within a number of residential and conservation areas.

There are a couple of mid-rises that will be built next to the Shard over the next few years, a student block and a new cancer centre for the hostpital.

As for skyscrapers, I am a bit more sceptical, the project linked to above has been in planning hell for a long time, the local politics of the immediate area is anti-high rise and a residential group has successfully challenged the local council on their high-rise zoning plans, possibly a token gesture from the council but it highlights the limitations.

The listed heights of those plans (upto 250m) looks increasingly unlikely, personally I think it would suit the area well as the original plan was designed to leave the Shard dominating views from the West - quite clever. I was excited about the project but I am now more resigned to the idea that they will turn out as a couple of mid-rise residential structures.

Although having worded that as a negative; the truth is, the Shard's design has a finese which means it can easily hold its own as an isolated structure so maybe this would be best after all.

First of all: Calm down.

Second: Read this. http://www.skyscrapercity.com/announ...hp?f=902&a=802

I don't assume anything. If a user posts his own material, he has to state it is his own as well. It's as simple as that.

Third: Stop telling me what to do. I just made the remark that he has to state where those images come from. This has to be done in a comprehensible way everytime you post material.

I'm not questioning that. Again, the user who posts images has to state where they come from, even if they are taken by himself. Time is short these days and we mods are not the ones who will go into research to find out. I didn't invent these rules, but we all better stick to them if we don't want to get in trouble. Period.

And as another remark: Next time you want to complain, do it via private messaging. That's the purpose of the PM system. Go on with the topic which is the Bridge Tower now.

Case closed.

I know that, it's just a project with a lot of details to fix and it won't be going out of the paper anytime soon anyway.
