Great building one world trade center just hit 1017 feet back here in new york, so it give me the perspective of how tall the shard is going to be.

Wow that last shot is incredibe the colour of the sky, the buildings in the foreground - all that is needed now is the shards spire to top it all off.

are there plans for other skyscrapers or falls around The Shard? it looks a bit lonely in this shot... it needs other tall but not too tall buildings around it would make it look even more impressive, like an old oak in a forest of saplings

I would have loved to have seen something along the lines of the cancelled London Millennium Tower, wasn't that supposed to be where the Gherkin is now? Imagine that shot in the photo and having Bishopsgate at it's original 307m height.

There is an 80m tower U/C right next to it. There are other towers planned in the area around it. One likely to happen is a student appt. tower 107 meters I think?

Called "Three Spires"? 923ft, 706ft and 432 ft towers will be built near The Shard.

To be frank, i want The Shard to stand alone like Tour Eiffel in Paris ( more appealing ) and they are both comparable in terms of height.

I just hope London does not become a skyscraper city to me its will lose its majesty and my opinion is the city of London does not need to go that route.

It's far away from being a skyscraper city but more of a city with skyscraper clusters.
