They vary from 5.0 to 5.8 degrees from the vertical. Someone else will have to tell you what the typical pitch of a steeple is...

Looks like the cladding is climbing steadily even though there's a pause in construction at the top

However I think their efforts are often misguided, since any sort of Old World charm London possessed 100 years ago has vanished rather spectacularly, not due to huge skyscrapers, but rather with modern low rise buildings such as Portcullis house, the City hall, and the legions of lesser known ones on the famous streets which replaced those destroyed by the Blitz and general decay.
Yes, agreed, we are VERY lucky to have a strong community of heritage lovers here in London. It's all very well to have a go at someone like Prince Charles because of some of his "quaint" ideas, but we can thank him for torpedoing the hideous monstrosity that was planned for Trafalgar Square and lilkewise the shit planned for the site next to St.Pauls! I give him full marks for standing up to these ego-centric pricks!! There are still far too many sub standard spec buildings around in London which get pushed through because they don't get the publicity of the tall ones.
It was right to have consultation on the "Shard", as a restult London got a world class skyscraper, far better than what is going up in many other places.

This building is awesome too The top is even better than the top of the Shard in my opinion.

^ the spires of the shard is meant to be like broken pieces of glass which is basically the meaning of the shard and this tower, no?
