Almost done: The final bits are put into place on the Shard skyscraper

Imposing: The Shard dominates the skyline in London, and is now Europe's largest inhabited building

Touching the clouds: The Shard reaches its full height of 310m and nears completion taking the iconic landmark building to an equivalent of 95 floors

Big brother: St Paul's Cathedral has been put in the shadows, so to speak, by The Shard

There is some great pics on here, jealous of shardview I think it is who has a great view of it from the window.

The cladding looks great from tv camera shots, still no fan of the red blinds and once the whole building is fully cleaned and glistening I'm sure it will look great.

However one area that leaves a slight disappointment is that massive gap on one side where it looks incomplete somewhat. Are they definitely not enclosing it off in any way?

Will there be LED lights on the glass above the highest floor?

I thought it happens only in Russia, but look, in England, too, the journalists do not check the information.

asdfg, that black and white shot in particular is beautiful, well done! It looks like it's been in the city forever in that photo, like a Cathedral spire.

here`s some info on Top Out, i got from Fury,

The official CTBUH position on topping out is as follows :
"A tall building is “topped out” architecturally when it has reached its ultimate architectural height (e.g., it includes spires, parapets, etc)."

To clarify, they consider a building topped out when it has reached what will be the top of the "height to architectural top measurement" is reached.

So if they add flagpoles, antennae, lightning rods, etc. the height to tip measurement will be done to the top of those after they are installed. This could be some time after top out depending on what they add.

Looking at the renders for this project it appears there won't be any additions to the shards.

Makes me wonder how the glassware will perform if a lightning strike occures?

PD.

Are they going to make the southern section of the spire wider? It seems a bit too narrow right now.

That is great news. Now I'm eagerly waiting for the construction of another supertall in London.
