Wow! Just shows what a bit of clever P.R. and arse licking can do for your image. The only architect I can think of who is more overrated than Foster is his old boss Rogers. City Hall is a heap of shit IMO, though I do like the Gherkin and Wembley is not bad. Guess there is no accounting for taste which is just as well, we don't want to be all the same!

A bit of sun today. Not a lot, but enough.

Forgive me for a bit of a photographic splurge.

To me it's a characterless lump of glass and steel which is vastly overrated by some, because it's our first and only supertall building in this country.

Doesn't quite account for the accolades from non Brit posters.

WOAH "characterless" ??? I'd say the opposite - iconic and characteristic. It looks like a diamond in the rough. The jewel piece of London. Seems like it's meant to be in London. It is an aesthetic beauty. I would write a poem about the Shard if everyone wants me to. I vouch for it.

For the amount of money this building has cost I would have hoped for something a little more substantial.
It's a reasonable size at the bottom, getting quite small at halfway up and no room to swing a cat when you get near the top. What's the point of that?
Oh I know, to provide exclusive luxury apartments for the uber rich! Great stuff
