You mean why it is pronounced 'temz', seeing as Thames is its original spelling. That would be because English spelling is taken mostly from Middle English, so that would be how it was pronounced back in the Middle Ages (remember that many literate English people in the Middle Ages, especially in London, were Francophones).

They are building another skyscraper around the same height as the Shard in the middle of the financial centre

Yeah, could at least be repainted. And what's up with the tree inside it?

Not sure what's happening to the building (88A Tooley Street).

At the end of last year, there was an application to revive an old planning permission granted in 2002 to convert the top storeys into flats and build three storey extension out the back. That seems to have gone nowhere - not denied, the decision was just deferred and is still pending. The Rainbow Spicy Kebab shop on the ground floor has been 'closed for refurbishment' for many months now and doesn't look like it's reopening.

Unclear whether the site is affected by the rebuilding of London Bridge station - though the Shipwright's Arms (blue pub next door) isn't being touched by that.

YES!! Finally they are re cladding the hospital!
Finally this building may be able to compliment the Shard instead of the Shard hiding the hospital.
