^ Great shots, cybertect. When I scrolled down and saw your post, I actually sat for a while waiting for the first picture to load, before scrolling down slightly more and realising that it already had.

The Place cladding looks awesome, just like 4WTC.

I like the Place's cladding better than the Shard's, in my opinion. That curved side is just brilliant.

AFAIK, it's exactly the same glass. It's just that it's vertical so you get a reflection of the surroundings, rather than the sky.

The shape is different. The place has much thinner cladding with small fins (on one side, at least), it is not perfectly flat, and it uses yellow blind boxes instead of red ones.

I thought it was around £1.5billion?

That includes all the development and a certain amount towards improving London Bridge station, no?

Sorry for my ignorance, but what is that tower behind the shard, on the right?

I guess that exchange rate doesn't do any good, it being build in Europe and like others said it seemingly including some work on the surrounding.

In China there are skyscrapers being build for 300 million dollars while in Finland it costed 230 million dollars to build small music center in our capital. China isn't certainly the cheapest place anymore to build skyscrapers as managers are in such a high demand there that they many times cost more than in West, though the workforce itself is certainly cheaper, as is land in many cases.

Which picture are you referring to?

I don't know where the $3 billion figure came from, but the cost most often quoted for the construction of the Shard is £450 million, which is approximately $720 million.

If you mean the tower with the three circular holes than it's the Strata.
