Thanks. I guess we have to wait untill they'll complete it to see the overall effect. But there's no way to look even worse than it used to.

Riding the escalator down to St Thomas Street. Paving going down outside the hotel entrance.

Guys on a cherry picker going up to do something with the canopies on St Thomas Street. Lights are in place now.

Look here, CTBUH writes that Shard's height is only 306 meters...

Well, the official Shard web site says it's 310m

http://the-shard.com/shard/explore-t...bout-the-shard

As does Emporis

http://www.emporis.com/building/the-...united-kingdom

Emporis are the official suppliers of building data to the CTBUH, BTW.

Edit: The thing is, 306m is the height of the tallest structural steel. The tallest architectural point (literally) of the building is, however, the top-most glazing panel, which makes up the difference.

Can someone make a pic from the front of the facade in the middle, for a texture for me?

Emproris is saying that Heron Tower is taller than One Canada Square. WTF?

London will have an Empire State Building/Chrysler scenario, I'd say the Gherkin is the Chrysler that the Shard, (empire State Building) will overtake in popularity easily.

London officially has the best skyline in Europe, IMO. I'm ♥ the shard.

I can't wait until people hear the word 'London' and will instantly think of the Shard.

I hope it never happens. London has already classy icons and no arrogant manifestation of petrol moguls dominancy will ever beat them.

I don't know, it's not as iconic as Gherkin.

It may not be but the Gherkin could be our Chrysler and the Shard the Empire State...

Better if they even know where this one stands. Maybe random people do know the Orbit better than the Shard.
