Thanks for the positive comments.

I'd like to go back to the Shard later in the year and take some pictures at night time - I think I'll be beaten to it as a far as posting them up on here

I went up the first night, and although getting in was a bit of a task with queuing (I'll leave it down to day one organisation problems), once on the observation decks I was in awe at the splendour of the London landscape. Myself and friends stayed up there for over an hour and I've already booked for an afternoon visit. Situated right in the middle of London you can see the full 36 miles of London's width from Heathrow in the West to the Queen Elizabeth Bridge in the East and the 28 miles from London's most northern to southern edges.
The whole city looks amazing, with the majestic river Thames cutting through it. The Thames gets bashed for appearing brown, and although sometimes sewerage is dumped into it, the Thames is actually a very clean river with over 150 species of fish. The reason for its muddy completion is down to it being a tidal river (over 20ft difference in high tide and low tide) and the silt being constantly churned within it.
Thought that should be known.

what a glorious tower. Together with the Gherkin, arguably the best looking scrapers around; and both in one city!

This is just Boris messing around, he says things like this a lot to get a laugh out of the assembled crowd and viewers. I'm sure US politicians and business men try to inflate the truth through humour.

Nah. They just lie and try to act serious like they're telling the truth. Happens all the time, especially in election season with those barrage of annoying ads.

I hate bumbling Boris, an embarrassment as a mayor for a great city. I hate his crazy ideas, oh well!
