The following rise after this one is the skylobby. Progress might slow down on the construction of those floors. But afterwards the pace should pick up again

Glad that progress has been very good lately. I wish they would redesign the Spire to get it to 2,001 feet. The year that the original Towers were taken from us. It's time the U.S. has a building break the 2K feet mark.

- Yup, other than the now-stalled Chicago Spire, there is not even a proposal for a 2000-footer in the US, AFAIK. Barring Europe, most of the other skyscraper hubs have one or more 2000+ supertalls. Hopefully, we may see something of that height soon in NYC or Chicago in the near future.

I really hope so too. We might have lost the skyscraper race (we being America), but we should still be building tall

Building tall is back in fashion again, since high-density is more sustainable in many senses than lower density urban design options. Here at MIT, as well as in other leading schools, like Columbia, there is renewed thought on high-density and vertical mixed-use.

I do wish the WTC complex was more mixed use, and that one or more of the towers incorporated themes of vertical mixed-use. Lower Manhattan is trying to become a Live-Work-Play destination and this would have helped a lot.

I don't think the skylobby will slow things down. It might actually speed it up slightly. There are fewer beams on one floor for the large floor opening.

The US may not have the tallest, but we make up for it with quantity and quality.

The spire should be 2001 feet and the roof should be 1776 feet.

Hi new here, really like how the Tower is looking, love the glass as well. Anyone when it should top out without the spire? I know it won't be for a while, but im just curious to know.

Well early this year, people were saying the roof would top out late this year. But since that likely isnt happening anymore, I think the roof will top out Feb/March 2012 and the spire June/July? 2012. Im not sure how long the spire would take, but thats just my guess.

Edit-Thanks for pointing out my mistake
