In my opinion, I prefer "The Rising" from Discovery Channel, at least those guys are less clueless than Fox's reporters.

From LowerManhattan.info

*The following information was last updated on April 11, 2011.

Facade installation is now above floor 27
Tower steel is now above floor 62
Concrete is now being installed above floor 50
Spray-on fireproofing underway
Installation of elevator rails
Multiple cranes on site for steel and concrete installation
Both the south and north cores are now being erected as the structure rises
"Cocoon" safety system now in place around upper perimeter, to rise with structure
Utility installation and tie-ins
Crews are coordinating substructure construction while maintaining PATH service

I would say that more people don't know about the project than those that do.
At least that's how it seems for me. Anyone I talk to about it around here are clueless.. maybe it has to do with where I'm from, I don't know.

No one around my area knows about it or cares. I'm the only person out of my group of friends that actually gives a damn. The media attention will pick up as the tower nears completion, without a doubt.

Many folks in Idaho have no idea, so I wouldn't say that you're wrong about that.

There's a lot of people who live in NYC, who don't know about and don't care. Skyscraper aren't forever body, to most people there just buildings.

And Fox is fairly right-wing in their reporting and will use terms like Rise of Freedom earlier then a network like Discovery or NG. I prefer more the real journalistic approach and documentairy style.

Most people will not know about it until it is finished and featured in a Hollywood blockbuster movie.

Most people in China do not know about Shanghai Tower yet either.

Once it grows out of the skyline, more and more people will notice. But it's true what you say. A friend of mine is always saying, "what is so special about just some glass and steel?" Argh!

Yeah, even some of my closest friends seem shocked when I mention the new WTC. "I guess I just didn't realize they were rebuilding it." I've even heard this from friends who live in the Financial District and can see the site on their daily commute. It all just fades into the landscape for them, I guess.

It's actually a few feet skinnier than the original WTC towers if you're measuring about where the glass currently starts.

Somehow I still think old twins suited Lower Manhattan more. I still love the new complex, though.

They do indeed. This new complex looks so out of place. I don't mind the Freedom Tower as such but the other 3 towers are so ugly and uninspiring.

Troll! NY does offer a true diversity, architecture, and great atmosphere that you can't get in any Chinese city. Skyscraper is not everything that's why European cities attract more international visitors than any other city on the planet NY<3

I personally find WTC2 and WTC3 beautiful, even more beautiful than WTC1. WTC2 has such a beautiful diamond roof...
