I wonder what the same antenna that was atop the North Tower would look like on 1WTC? The old antenna was great in its functionality, the new one looks a little OTT?

those pics taken from 7WTC are awesome! you can really see that the size of the upper floors are rapidly shrinking in those images. I still can't understand all 8 sides of this building are tapering towards the top or not? From many angles it looks like its just 4 of the sides that are tapering. I'm not an overly technical guy but its hard to tell in the images. I will be in NYC in 6 weeks so I can't wait to see for myself!

Well to cut through your boasting, the site only made reference to the central spire being reminiscent of those three buildings. So not exactly taking styling cues from them, rather the old, more elaborate proposal was simplified for economical and practical reasons. Many designs just are because they have to be. Money is the true deciding factor, day in, day out.

Finally, Woolworth Building surpassed! Now on to One Chase. I assume Traynor has updated his diagram by now.

I love skyscrapers and it's unfortunate that in Sao Paulo has not skyscraper with 45 floors.

What's 1WTC current height guys please (over 200m I guess)?

What a majestic building, if some people were skeptical about 1WTC being prefered to the new twin towers scheme, I now think we all agree on the fact that 1WTC was the right choice to make.

PS: what a great cladding as well! I now just can't wait for Foster's 'baby' to rise too as it's (by far) my favourite one.

The current height of 1 WTC is 800 feet +- 2 feet (approximately 244 meters), with the steel at the 65th/66th floors.

This now makes 1WTC the 16th tallest buildings in NYC!

On a different note, I am a little concerned about the speed of the progress at the tower. The last steel jump was on April 22nd, 18 days ago. This is the equivalent rate of building 1 floor every 9 days, which is much slower than what its supposed to be: 1 week per floor. Does anybody know the reason for this?

Also, I agree that 2 WTC is a very well-designed tower, but its horrible location would make 1 WTC virtually invisible from Brooklyn, which is what I really can't get over.

Its almost sureal to think that one building will block a 420m roof height bldg.

Many thanks Toren. And to say that 1WTC has already surpassed our tallest office tower inaugurated on 5 may ('First' visible in my avatar, 231m).

It's amazing to see how 1WTC now emerges from/surpasses the rest of the nearby skyscrapers, once finished, it's gonna look fab (especially at night). Otherwise, I didn't know that 2WTC was going to mask 1WTC from Brooklyn, I'd by annoyed as well to be honest...

I've never been to America, but I plan to visit a friend of mine who lives & works in the big apple, I'll try to book my trip so that it matches with the completion of the WTC scheme... Vive NY, .
