I concur with some of the people here that excessive use of glass can make a building look rather bland and dull (in my opinion, the post-modernist Fountain Place building in Dallas, Texas is a perfect example of that). However, the building's radical elongated square antiprism design along with the white diagonal side-columns more than make up for that and actually complement the clear glass. The fact that the tower has the same profile as the original 1 WTC helps as well.

Stunning Discovery webcam shot! That shows how tall this thing is getting!

And STR, your render made it all the better! Thanks!

TBH the red steel on the base looks pretty sweet. Concrete blast walls on the lobby however look really shitty, thats where the prismatic glass comes in to cover the ugly walls. Shame there was no inheritance of the lobby designed by Minoru Yamasaki on the orignal buildings. Then again we live in a world filled with terrorist dickheads, ******* things up for the rest of mankind.
Love the last sentence, haha! But yet, so true.

The quality of the glass that the manufacture made was far below standards, and they have already dropped over $10 million on the glass thus far, so they are going for a re-design instead of finding a company that can build the glass to spec.

Saw this link posted over at WNY, fantastic quality pictures from the discovery cam angles. You can really zoom in and see the fine details of just about the entire WTC site! Awesome.
