It has been a bit slow of late but that is due to bad weather and the loss of two days due to the holiday (Saturday they weren't working and today either).

Hopefully they will now get back to their regular rhythem of a floor per week.

i have to admit, i had my doubts about the glass.....but now that half of it is up, it is looking great!!! perhaps the perspective of the pictures is different (we're not scrutinizing each panel with super zoom lenses) but judging the building as a whole, or that i finally saw the real thing for myself (even though i live just a few blocks from the WTC site in chelsea)

anyway, would somebody pass the ketchup, i must proceed with the eating of my hat

Can't believe it's only half way built, this is going to look WAY taller in real life than it seems in the renders.

2 Steel beams have just gone up; one on the west side and the other on the east side!

This brings the height of 1 WTC to somewhere around 830 feet. It's now the 4th tallest building downtown and 11th tallest in the city. With this jump, 1 WTC has surpassed the Bloomberg Tower (806 feet), the Met Life Building (808 feet), the Conde Nast building (809 feet), One Chase Manhattan Plaza in the downtown Manhattan (813 feet), and the City Spire Center (814 feet).

Somebody mentioned earlier that 1 WTC is being built on an elevation 10 feet below that of the Woolworth Building, so the tower had not actually surpassed the Woolworth Building even though it was structurally taller. With this jump, it is taller than the Woolworth and One Chase buildings regardless of local topography.
