Not as bad as the Shanghai tower imo. Looks like a piece of crap, literally - a giant warped turd.

We all can't be Taipei 101. All I know is I can't wait for this building, to pass 1,000 foot marker.

you have to play to your surroundings. 1 wtc is the perfect height for a supertall in lower manhattan, considering there are so many beautiful skyscrapers (40wall, 20exchange, woolworth, american international, chase, etc) in the neighboring area; it would be disrespectful to dwarf them all on such an absurd level with a building as tall as the burj khalif. it would also look really silly.

Agreed. NYC has no history or culture. Apart from tall buildings, there is nothing there to see!

Nice render, does show how audacious the Burj's size is. I mean, I used to work for Emaar and I have a soft corner for BK, but I agree that it would stick out if put in Lower Manhattan, or anywhere else in the world. That said, downtown could do with a 2000 footer. The other location in the US that a building of that height would fit in would be Chicago, of course (fingers still crossed for the Spire!)!

I'm not criticizing anyone, just posted this picture because people were talking about it, and found it interesting to post this image. I'm just defending the city, unlike you.

The whole world knows that New York is the largest city in the world. Moreover, it is located within the United States, which is the largest enconomia the world (yet).

Anyway, please. If who is here to "criticize" New York, give your opinion somewhere else.
