They will be built. And just wait until you see 3 WC in person, you will realize that it is twice as sharp and classy as Chicago's John Hancock Center.

When will the cocoon be lifted? And I think having just 1 WTC and 4 WTC in the skyline is also a disgrace, maybe not to 9/11 families but people who visited the old WTC and thought ''wow, this place is amazing'', I'm sure just the FT, WTC 4 and the 'twin stumps' will not trigger this type of reception, regardless if the twin towers get rebuilt or not, having something built would be a recovery for us here in Manhattan.

Someone above mentioned 2 being referred to and nicknamed "Diamond Building". On a related note, what do you think will be, if anything, the nicknames for the other buildings?

The new WTC will have the same amount of office space as the original site (not including whatever size 5 WTC becomes) . Although that sounds absurd, each of the new towers sacrifice a significant amount of space for the much more substantial cores at their centers as well as the fact that none of the new buildings are volume-maximizing boxes for their entire height – none of the new towers has even 3 million square feet while the twins each had about 4 million. I suspect that the new towers also have a higher percentage of their volume dedicated to mechanical spaces than the twins.

A cool factoid: as tall as WTC 1 is right now it is still 120 feet short of what WTC4 will be when it tops out. So clearly Lower Manhattan is on its way to getting its skyline back :-)

Ah yes, ok that makes sense. I stand corrected. Jolly good.

One WTC will probably always be known as the Freedom Tower. Three WTC & 4 WTC & 5 WTC, I have no idea what those'll be nicknamed. (Probably something simple, like Tower 3, Building 4, etc.)

Really looking forward to seeing these buildings rise.

People do, however they are not publicly available. You have to have damn good reason to hold a copy of the prints.

Word on the street is that Chris Ward ( Ex. Director of the Port Authority) is getting fired after September 11, 2011.
