Well I was never a fan of the Spire so it didn't bother me when it was cancelled, and quite frankly, though it would have been taller than 1WTC, I would feel kinda sorry for Chicago as for me, the design was just so horrible. For me 7 South Dearborn, and the Miglin-Beitler Skyneedle were way way nicer and I'd very much rather have a tower like those.

The two guys pictured in Carlos' last pic really gives you an idea of the sheer size of this building, and it's not even complete yet. Have they decided what they are going to do with the base?

Does anyone have any idea what is going on with the southeast corner of the base? You can see it on the PA's webcam..

taken with an i-phone by me from grenwich village in a cab on the way to the site about 30 mins ago. Beautiful day in NYC and after following this construction for the past 18 months online I wanted to make my own contribution to this thread!

Great. That is a prelude to the vertical steel going up, probably on Wednesday.

Thanks so much for all the frequent updates Carlos. I really appreciate them as, I am sure, do other.

BTW, can't wait until the cladding comes into few from your vantagepoint. Should be by sometime in August I think.
