The (dark) grey color is indeed intentional. We usually associate dark spaces with some sort of absence, a void; light colors would dampen that effect.
Unfortunately, this is all off-topic. Opinions of the pools should be in the appropriate thread.

Before you shit on the memorial pools, could you at least give them a chance to...you know, finish them? And turn all the waterfalls on?

He has the right to express his opinion? Using this [your] logic, no one has the right to make a comment based on personal opinion about the building, because construction hasn't finished on it.

As for the waterfalls, I don't like them. They give me a weird impression.

Thanks for the pictures, Otie!

Please quote the part where I said he didn't have the right to express his own opinion.

All I suggest is that he wait until the pools are completed before saying they're "ugly square pits." We won't get the full effect until it's all done and the waterfalls are all flowing. It's a lot different than talking about 1 WTC because we've seen so many renders of it, we have a pretty good idea how it's going to look by now. I don't think we can judge the waterfalls by non-moving renders.

I guess I misunderstood your statement, "before you shit". My apologies.

To be fair, there are moving renders (or videos) of the pools.

I wasn't shitting on them as you put it! . . You shit!
lol All i was saying is they are very close to their official opening they will be up and running in 10 weeks or so, They arn't gonna change anymore than what they are already, other than the water falls turned on. And we have already seen them in action. I just don't think they look as tranquil or as nice as they did in the video renders.
(Think i'm in order there, i'm not doing any shitting of the sort!! lol)

Yeah, I posted the updated render several days ago... But here it is again. Even with that lone core column reaching floors 73-74, we haven't passed any buildings since Beekman/Gehry New York/8 Spruce Street (whatever it's called) a few jumps ago.
