That is exactly right, it was supposed to be topped at the end of this year, but because of the inclement weather that they had so often this past winter, it is slated for the 1st quarter of '12, or in that vicinity.

Oh that makes more sense, considering the rate at which floors are stacking up lately it wouldn't make much sense if it hadn't been topped out by '12

I'm confused. What is that steel framing above the concrete on the base?

Those are for mechanical floors. The concrete completely encases the lobby area and was a requirement by the NYPD to limit damage from car/truck bombs.

If you blur this photo, it looks like the construction of the Twin Towers, with north tower complete, and south tower on its way up.

Fascinating and clever. If you showed this to someone unfamiliar with 1wtc they would probably be impressed thinking they were almost done with the 2nd tower

That Beekman tower really ruins the Brooklyn Bridge view, completely steals the thunder of the WTC.

Are there any renders on the opera house or theater supposed to be built beside WTC 1?

Someone should make and render of the twin towers with the beekman in front of it and see how the beekman takes the dominance away.

I like the beekman, it looks like it's came straight from gotham. In fact I wonder if it was partially inspired by the batman films.

Hurry and go and tell them!! Because they obviously don't have teams of designers, architects and engineers thinking about these kind of things...

Completely agree beekman tower takes away from the iconic view. Very distracting. I'm loving the view from staten island though

Yeah, luckily there will be many other nice views of 1 WTC that are hopefully impossible to ruin.

Yeah, when Carlos gets back we should tell him to forget about the telephoto lense and tell him he needs to buy a place towards the top of the Beekman Tower. Then we should get great shots. In fact, we could chip in an buy him a HD web-cam. I'd be up for that if he'd agree to move to the Beekman.
