Yes, be very afraid, or otherwise the terrorists win

The glass on the 48th floor is coming along nicely, it only seems like yesterday they were installing steel on the 52nd floor ("halfway")

I swear I am not THAT bad at German.

Anyway I am excited because I have a chance to visit NYC next month and will definitely come down to the WTC site. I know there will be a few more floors up by then as well as glass.

Pre-9/11 what was located where the Vehicle Security Center is now being built, in the yellow circle? I know Deutsche Bank Building was where the red circle is, but this other area rarely shows up in old pictures. Where did that skywalk originally go to?

St. Nicholas Greek Ortodox Church, the only external building totally destroyed during 9/11. The church was located inside a parking lot.

The bridge used to conect the World Trade Center with the World Financial Center:

There was a second bridge just north of this one, but was severly damaged after 9/11.

Thanks for that, now I can search for images of The Greek Orthodox Church, however, it looks like that bridge was on the wrong side of Liberty Street to connect with the Hotel and WTC.

This photo shows the proximity of the once standing Greek Orthodox Church and the still standing South Bridge. Pretty close considering the entire building got crushed and the footbridge still stands.

Thanks for that. It's a great photo.

It's amazing such a small church and a surface parking lot could still be extant in Lower Manhattan all the way into the 21st Century. One would think the land value would have made that prohibitive.

And nothing against that church, but it sure looks like a bridge to nowhere. I am surprised it didn't lead into the mezzanine of the Marriott Hotel.

The bridge was built to connect to a tower that would eventually be built on the parking lot, iirc. Obviously that never happened.

Still amazing that the church was utterly obliterated, while 90 West Street and the South Bridge are still there.
