Not the best picture, but it's a view from uptown.

You know, I wasn't so keen on the glass when it started going up, but once you see it in person it really changes your mind. These latest pictures are doing the glass justice as well.

My only concern is that Towers 2 and 3 will use the same glass. I know Tower 2 will look a bit different since there appears to be some vertical element to the glass, but parts of Tower 3 might look similar.

Really agree with you, don't have the pleasure of being able to see it in person, but from the recent photo's such as these the glass looks spot on!

Do we know what they are cladding the base in yet? Maybe not to everyones taste but I think just glass straight down to the bottom with a slightly darker tint to it would look great. but that's just my opinion.

Impressive progress!! Huge tower and certainly in terms of divine design.

For me one of the world's tallest skyscrapers and most beautiful in construction.

Good taste, but elegant simplicity of lines.

Also I still think the space in which are the sources of the twin towers memorial is too much space, would prefer to rebuild the towers in a modern version, or the same but perhaps with cw or as they were before but with better systems defenza to any unannounced.

That area in my opinion, and seeing the aerial shots, it's like to be left empty center or Lower Manhattan.

i agree............this building is elegant (and just about as tall to roof) and WTC2 and WTC3 perhaps more elegant...............we can only be patient and see the whole complex when completed in a few years hopefully

Will you be able to go from WTC1 to WTC4 etc. through the memorial, or do you have to go via the transit hub?

well i'm quite sure if there was a second same tower next to it that people wouldn't hate it. if there was a second tower and lets say without a spire, then that would be just fantastic. them 2 could make a modern new version of the old Twins and everybody would love it i think...2 are just bigger/better/more like 1. but yeah have to agree that we have to wait for the whole finished project and then well see right.

Wow that was fast for the perimeter columns on 73/74. As always, great pics Carlos and glad to see you're putting your new lense to good use!

Yes, it's sweltering all over the Northeast. I am particularly worried about the Swamp White Oaks at the memorial. They are not looking too good the last couple of days and appear heat or lack of water stressed. Many of them are showing signs of burning and curling of leaves and still others are actually losing their leaves.

Those mature trees require plenty of water and maintenance and I wonder if during all the construction, the resident dendrologist is doing enough to keep them healthy.

Other than the 1 or 2 trees that are clearly just clinging to life, I wouldn't worry about them too much. First, some stress from the transplantation is to be expected (just like a person being weak after surgery), but this'll go away in time. Also, a lot of the "brownish" appearance that we see in some of the trees is probably just dust and whatnot which is naturally going to be in the air at one of the largest construction sites in the country. Every time it rains, the trees get "cleaned off".

That one tree was healthy and full on June 1st and by June 12th was completely bare. Now it appears to be slowly regrowing its leaves. It's almost as if it was attacked by a swarm of locust or an infestation of caterpillars. I'd love to know what really happened.

From Memorial thread:

Much healthier just one week earlier (June 1st):

I wonder how many "spare" trees they have growing at the nursery to replace others that may die in the future, and how big they can grow before becoming too large for transport or transplant?
