Miss the times when NYC was at the very top... well it's too bad that if they build another world's tallest (not very likely anyway) it would completely dominate the skyline.

Can you imagine a building as tall as the Burj Khalifa in NY?

To be honest building the worlds tallest building wouldnt have even been a good idea the scale of the 1wtc it about 2x the financial center which scales nicely building something taller than the bk there would have just been for the sole purpose of being the tallest with no respect shown towards the rest of downtown and it would have looked rediculous. To be honest who even cares anymore the tallest buildings are losing all human scale and are getting to be abnoxious. They will never be able to take away our past and we had the worlds tallest when it mattered, nowadays you can literally go as high as you want pretty easily.

I agree with you completely. It's a pointless race, some of these supertalls look so out of place in some instances and show no regard to how they fit with their sorroundings

This building was design to be the tallest. But that was 7 years ago. And I don't think it's pointless to want the WTB in NYC. It wasn't pointless when the city had the title, the first few times.

Don't Want to get political but with the way America is heading economically you won't. 20 years from now it looks as if you will be a complete shadow of what you used to be unless you some how turn it around. Which I hope you do.

Back on topic. America is smart. They don't bring out a huge building just to be the biggest but they bring out one that looks well with the city and is also a very impressive size.

I'm sorry, but unless you're net worth is a trillion bucks, neither you or anyone else here can predict the future. Modern capitalistic economies go through booms and busts, always will, and if there is a private commercial need for such a building and it's owner/developer thinks he can make $$$ doing it, it will be built. For one, Donald Trump has developed plans for such a building in the past, and did not find it advantageous to build it to date. Take your agenda somewhere else, Pfeuffer.
