Well, this tower has more than enough "mechanical" floors. (whatever that means) so there had better be an actual use for the space, like a gift shop or cafeteria. It never had to be a world class restaurant.

Bless your hearts...

The gap in those two rows of glass is for the stairs that start above, right?

Is there a specific reason for that missing cladding? And also what's up with that portion of the base?

The cladding at the base was supposed to be a prismic glass design on top of the concrete blast bunker, but it is currently undergoing a redesign due to manufacturing issues. We can expect to see base cladding a coule months after the concrete blast walls at the base are finished. As for the missing panels abobe the base, they are missing because the steel place holders are going to be used to hold scaffolding for the base cladding.

The missing pieces of cladding have nothing to do with the scaffolding, the steel pieces in place are to help keep the cladding straight and true.

I appreciate your response but I guess I wasn't clear enough in my original post.

What I meant was, why are there missing pieces of cladding right in the middle on the top 2 rows? And about the base, I meant why does that corner of the base have that extra stuff attached to it now? I know the story of the base cladding issues, but I was just wondering what that other stuff is and if they're going to do that to the whole base.

Otie, I love your diagrams of both 1 and 4 WTC. Thanks so much for sharing those!

king, I honestly can't believe you like the Mecca Clock Tower because I noticed that we like mostly the same buildings and architecture, but I do not agree with you here.
