Impressive all pictures, really beautiful to see it grow this iconic tower for the city.

This complex and the skyline will be a breeze for anyone who appreciates it.

Why is the Goldman Sachs' building always so illuminated?

I 've to book two hotel rooms for our CEO's for their upcoming trip to NYC and don't know where to start.

So many hotels and they rather avoid the big busy hotels of Lower Manhattan or the fancy chic ones of Upper East side or close to Waldorf simply due to be cost effective.

I 've found the Sheraton Lincoln close to Hoboken/Jersey so they have a view but also easy access to Manhattan, but if any of you, have a good suggestion, or any previous experience, please do send me a message and let me know what you think will be nice to stay at.

Many thanks in advance

It won't be similar at all, not even remotely similar.

As soon as 1 WTC is finished, it will be completely obstructed by 2 WTC from that view. Face it, the Brooklyn Bridge view will never be spectacular again. At least we have pictures like that to show how good it used to be.

I say it will be better than ever. The slanted roof of 2 WTC will be spectacular. You will see a fair amount of 1WTC behind 2WTC because of the slant. Then there is the spire on top of that and 3WTC and 4WTC to the south. It will be more impressive than ever!

I wonder if 1WTC will have one ring of lights covering either the roof line or the satellite dish circle thingy... it will make it look awesome.. I'm talking about Goldman Sachs' kind of lights.

dbox renderings show them... but we would need to see the electrical prints for confirmation (which are not released to public). God, we need you Zen.

Screenshot of a "The Rising" commercial found by RKowens44 at WNY (sorry for the bad quailty)

Wow, the previous page has many incredible images. I kept my mouth open watching these spectacular photos. What amazing skyline, how much light these buildings, how much energy and power this city has. I love her...

Those animations were made by Squared Design Lab, the same studio that made the New Memorial Animation, as well as the vast majority of the Memorial & Museum's renderings.

The architects helping New York to heal

Source: AP (no link found)

Some extracts of the article, really interesting thoughts from the architect:

Quote:
Childs "hated" the design of the old World Trade Centre by Minoru Yamasaki. As a Yale architecture graduate, he says, "we'd march against skyscrapers like that, we felt they were destroying cities. . . it was cold, mean and awful. It didn't work."
The towers had two attractions, Childs concedes: they played off one another and their corners reflected light, "but they were not interactive with the pedestrian and were a touchstone of what not to do with urban design". They became a symbol of the city, "but they were only really loved after they were destroyed".
...
Childs hopes 1WTC will "restore the vibrancy to downtown". Elements of the old city grid have returned and there are no raised plazas, "so the pedestrian is engaged by the buildings at street level". Childs also asked that other architects design the other buildings: Norman Foster is building 2WTC, Richard Rogers the third building, and Fumihiko Maki the fourth.
...
If there's a fire, fresh air will be channelled into stairwells, which will be wide enough to allow emergency services "full" access while people are descending, and in an emergency the service lifts will take firefighters to just below the source.
