Wow. All of those pics by Otie shows just how many vantage points in can be seen in and still be unnoticed. It's really cool actually. The giant of NYC that watches over the city that can be seen from everywhere but goes by unnoticed... Or something dramatic like that lol.

Edit and completely unrelated... This is my 541st post!

It's good, but slightly boring. Only thing that changed today was lights went on as the sun went down. Anyone know of any closer ones?

Awesome webcam Otie, thanks for the link. With it we can see both 1WTC and 4WTC rising. That's a really good angle

It'll be toped out this winter. After that they'll be building the interior and the spire. The building is scheduled to open in 2013

memorial

The footings for the pool do not extend all the way down. Under the pool is musuem space. The orginal footings for the WTC are a heistoric remenent and have been perserved. On the south side of the souther pool down at lowest elevation 242 ( 300 being mean high tide) , the footings and grillage are exposed that held up the south wall of 2 wtc and will be part of the museum exhibit.

QUOTE=steve1young;83019910]A positive that may come out of the footprints being slightly smaller than the original towers is that if the footings for the sides of the waterfalls are brought straight down to the floor of the memorial museum (not sure if they are or not), that would still allow you to view the original footings of the twins. I'm not sure if I explained that very well. Sorry.

I also have to add that it absolutely boggles my mind that people find so much to complain about and so much fault with the memorial, museum, and WTC buildings which in the grand scheme of things, are really very minor points.

I have a tendency towards eye-rollling when viewing posts like, "Yeah, way to go NYC!" and such, but I think I'll be better able to appreciate them now after being reminded of how much worse it is to see such ridiculous dribble and complaints like yours. Thanks![/QUOTE]
