I deleted nearly 2 pages full of offtopic stuff bitching about whether the US are a great country and what not. People, if you want to discuss such issues, go to our international skybar or some other skybar.

This thread is exclusively for the 1WTC project, nothing else, so just stop it!

Here, though it isn't perfect. It's just a 1WTC model cut to the actual height. Cullwulla makes the perfect construction diagrams so you should ask him

Old towers were designed in this way as well. And we all know what happened...

My question is on One World Trade Center is what is it max threshold aka strength?

What is the highest earthquake level could it survive from 1.0 to 10.0?
What is the highest Tornado it can survive from a EF 1 to an EF5?
what is the higest Hurricane it can survive from CAT 1 to CAT 5?
last but not least can One World Trade Center survive the big 1000 foot plus tusnami that the discovery channel predicits for NYC?

What is the max this Power house of a building can withstand?

Breathtaking pictures and drawings on the progress of works.

Really going to be spectacular, a new icon, but never forget the most beautiful twins could see a city on earth.

recently, the picture for 1 & 2 WTC changed on SSP. Who decides which picture shows by default?

Interesting questions. I don't know the answers but imagine the building strength is based on the probabilities of the things above vs. cost. Some are so unlikely (mag 8-10 earthquake, cat 4/5, hurricane, EF 5 tornado) that they probably didn't even consider them. A 1000-foot tsunami? I haven't see that show, but guess that's something like a once-in-10million-year event. If it did happen, it would wipe NYC off the map. No buildings, no matter how strong, would remain.

What sort of preparations are going to be made for Irene. Latest model runs show the potential for significant storm surge and winds gusting over hurricane force on Sunday. I assume the tower cranes can handle this, but how is flooding handled? What about the netting? It seems like there could be some significant delays from this storm.

The only way there could be a 1000 ft tsunami anywhere is as the result of a global impact event. In which case you'd have a lot more to worry about than a tsunami.
