It's from a satellite so there's a short time before the images are published.

@azn_man: I was wrong at my post about the author of the animations at Discovery's series, those weren't made by Squared Design Lab, but by dbox. Although Discovery is still using material from Squared Design Lab.

^Yep, a while back.

The geometry of the radome shell is based on a repeating modular system allowing for easy replacement and erection, and creates a protected maintenance area unique in the antennae industry. Large helices, called stakes, are built in the structure of the radome and wrap round the antenna to direct wind away from the structure.
For further wind support, eight frequency transparent Kevlar guy cables are connected from the mast back to the ring. Window washing equipment is also included in the helixes. The circular design of the shape makes it possible to service the building with just three maintenance units.

That's not great news for us, but if it means safer workers/equipment, then it's all for the best. I hope all the workers are safe and nothing gets damaged

5 minutes into the special and we've already seen some breath taking views of the future.

Very fascinating stuff. It really gives you an idea of just how tough this tower is.

This building, is just so incredible. Its hard to truly express how beautiful it is. The only buzzkill is the slow work that is going into this structure. I know that it is supposed to make it a much higher quality building. On second though, it gives me the time to admire every part of its construction.

I think by the time Irene reaches NY it will only be a tropical storm. Or at least I hope so

It'll still be a Category 1 Hurricane, but unfortunately it's going to be a bit further east than expected, hitting NY hard. Expect 80 mph winds and heavy rainfall.
Might be a few days before work resumes.
