Just let the old twins go. They are no longer here and there is absolutely NO point of wanting them being rebuilt. New formalism is gone for a long time too, so letīs move forward and appreciate this skyscraper.

For the tower haters: Just imagine Abraj Al Bait being built there instead and you will love 1WTC.

Abraj Al Bait being built on the site would provoke the Ground Zero Mosque Debate x100

I'm sure you were referring to the architecture of the Abraj Al Bait though

Much, much more than that. If that were to happen the tallest building in new York would be a monument to Islam. There would be riots etc...

(I hope I didn't come across as racist there because I am not

I'll be looking forward to the Discovery channel programs about the rebuilding of the WTC, which will be shown in Holland coming week.

Is it just me? But imho WTC1 doesnt look as tall as it really is (300m now). I know it must be HUGE by now, but it doesnt appeal to on pics.

Like Otie said, from a 45 degree angle view, along with the guy wires for the spire, it kind-of sort-of looks like an obelisk. Doesn't stand out too much though.

^The Kevlar wires will hardly be noticable, since there are only 8, each one being 6" diameter.

Guys, this speech by Chris Ward of PA will shed some light on why 1WTC is no longer called the Freedom Tower and why it is now being constructed simply as an office tower like others:
