PS - what's the current height of the tower and is up to which floor?

80th floor, ~991 feet high to the top of the column splice. Hopefully the next set of floors will start later this week. Then it'll be over a thousand feet.

Looks great!

Did they ever say why the new 1WTC won't match 110 floors as the old tower? Is it going to be 104 or 105? (have read conflicting sources).

Shame that there won't be a restaurant up there or an outdoor observation deck. I recall reading that they canned the restaurant as it wouldn't be economically viable - even though from memory, 'Windows On The World' was the highest grossing restaurant in the USA at the time.

Anyone know what the lobby and entrances will look like with the concrete base there?

BBC Video
(Hopefully it isn't restricted to UK viewers, but I'm not sure)

A 7 minute documentary on the BBC website, covering the construction of the twin towers through to the views on the current project. Nothing, "new" but interesting none the less.

I am starting to doubt they will make the 1000 ft mark by 9/11.

Is that an official goal? If so, why?

According to the media and the discovery channel special, the goal was to reach the 1000 ft mark by 9/11.

It's that kind of goal that motivates you to work faster and better..Nothing that plays some important role..(except that)

Thank you, Skunk.

Er, to be honest, it doesn't really look like an obelisk. More like the opposite of one.
