According to the renders it'll all be covered with grass. And as to the road, yeah, it looks a bit funky but I believe this is just a temporary status with all the construction going on at that site

Yup, the memorial is under ground and the two pools are the footprints of the old towers

I thought 2011 was the completion date for the WTC bldgs.project, was there any reason for the delays in construction...

Just 4 days away from the 10th anniversary. Prepare to hear lights of hype. Lots of eyes will be opened to 1 & 4 wtc's great progress.

Yes, but for years the reconstruction was a dispute, and ground zero just sat there untouched. Some people don't realize that the ball has finally begun to start rolling, and as 1 is more than 3 quarters completed, people may start anticipating completion.

From what I know they are. The pools are a bit smaller than the footprints but they still represent the footprints I guess

I know many people might disagree with me but I think 1WTC would look better without a spire. I'm looking forward to the time when it'll be topped out and fully cladded but before construction of the spire beginns

Yes we know, if it were up to you, you would remove Chrysler's beautiful spire too.

The fact that it was in dispute, was just ******* deplorable bullshit. A special project, such as this shouold have been treated as such, and why in the hell, they had to fight over this, was beyond ridiculous. Well at least it's on its way up now.

You know...I'm sure it's already been mentioned and discussed at length (this thread is 1305 pages long afterall!), but when I see this building, I'm increasingly starting to think of it as two buildings in one.

The design and angles are such that it appears to me like the bottom half starting at the base is one building that is oriented a certain way, and then the top half culminating in the roof is another building.

In that respect, it seems to perfectly capture the representation of the two buildings that stood not too far from it - whether intentional or not, I think it's a stroke of genius.

Just my opinion though
