A slightly outdated video, yet it shows how the WTC will impact the skyline when seen from New Jersey

A zoomed in version of the video above

Another somewhat outdated video that nevertheless provides an overview of the construction site; an ongoing concert at the Winter Garden provided a nice soundtrack

One of the LMDC/Port Authority's criteria for selecting Libeskind's master plan for five distinct, separate towers was the fact it could be built in stages. According to Paul Goldberger in "Up from Zero", the authorities accepted that building too much all at once (as in the case of a single megatall building) was simply not feasible given the complexity of Ground Zero's construction.

I dunno but could they not build one megatall in stages similarily as how only a portion of the MetLife North building got built?

That would mean that they would have to empty the finished part of the building once they start building the second stage. You can't have half of the building occupied and the other half under construction.

I love how he presents his "opinions" as if they are fact and then bitches and moans when people get on him for it. Maybe you don't understand that not everything is about having the biggest dick. Of course NY or Chicago could build a mile high tower and put everyone to shame, but we just don't need to.

And like stated above, don't use your own personal opinion to measure something officially. 1WTC IS going to be the tallest building in America. Sears/Willis's days of being America's tallest are numbered.

Maybe if you didn't dick-ride roof height so much and presented your opinion in a respectful way, you wouldn't be so hated.

Oh and one more thing. Don't tell anyone here that you're "ending this discussion" or whatever it is you say these days. You are not the boss. You are no one.

Do you really need to use such words? Can we really not discuss this issue in a civilized and mature manner?
Well Sears Tower was really a "oil-trophy" although obviously they didn't make money off oil. They projected that they will need the room and fill up the whole building eventually. They had the land, the money and everything right. So they just decided to build it. Too bad though, they never really ended up needing all that room. And alot of it became empty. HOWEVER, almost EVERY other skyscraper built that time was built because there was a need for it. What nyc really needs is only 1 super tall maybe at around 300m? Look at the vacany rates. You should be THANKFUL that were getting 4 buildings rather then just 1 300m building. NYC only builds what they NEED and what will make them the biggest profit.

About your argument about why wouldn't NYC build a mega tall. They had enough land in which it would feel like the biggest ******* waste ever. Also, the higher the building is, the more expensive it is. A 150 floor building would cost MUCH more then building a 150 buildings at 1 floor each. Also, aesthetics which is obviously something you don't give a **** about. Since all you care is height height height! and even more height. Stop ******* around with dumb comments already and LEAVE. There is a reason SSP didn't like you. They didn't like you for no ******* reason. And we don't like you for the same damn reason.

Can anyone tell me why, after months on end of counterproductive, delusional and argumentative posts, Kanto is still bastardising this and the other WTC construction forums. Perhaps this is a question best answered by a MODERATOR. I think everyone deserves an explanation.

That animation was done by Giround Pichot (now Piranha), the same studio that was in charge to make the two-minute "Completing the Vision" animation for Silverstein Properties.
As you may know, Silverstein is in charge to build Tower 2, 3 & 4, so its logical to conclude that Piranha is only focusing on Silverstein's towers, leaving One carelessly, therefore you've got the same 2006 model being used in a 2011 animation.
