Great pics! Just changed my avatar as the 10th anniversary approaches. New York's skyline will be restored in no time, and I'm confident the other two towers (2 and 3WTC) will continue to rise. And to my fellow Americans here on SSC: you have a great city, be proud of it. The world is looking at you, don't fail us.

There has been a number of alternative designs for the new WTC. Has anybody collected them?

For those who object to the spire......in reality the original WTC interfered with reception when the ESB was the main antenna......so again the new WTC would interfere so even though for symbolic or architecture there are people in the New York and New Jersey areas that need TV reception...just real life OK !

Nah, that would be the boring, obvious choice. Most towers have 4 walls anyway, why can't this one be a bit different? It's like 2 towers in one!

I think it depends on taste. For me it's looking strangely... I'm not saying it's a bad project, but... I don't think it's a tower which deserve for being a landmark on NYC. It should be something special... very special. Also I don't like 'pyramid' skyscrapers. And this one is a bit looks like pyramid

I believe Pingan IFC 1 will be the tallest all-office tower.

That's true, every building in the world has people who love it and people who hate it. It all depends on taste. While I personally like 4 walls more than 8, I still think 1WTC is a masterpiece cause I like 8 walls too. It's something new and fresh but still it fits into the skyline. I think it's design represents perfectly both the traditional NY style and the never ending struggle to come up with new and unique designs. 1WTC is my favourite building under construction and among the top 10 when counting built buildings too

I am one of the thousands who ran out of the towers on 9/11. I also work, in part, on the rebuilding from the administrative/documents end. The rebuilding is close to my heart.

It's really great to see all the interest in the new One WTC on this website. I also happen to know through conversations that many of the engineers working on the WTC site, some of whom are also 9/11 survivors, also love this site and appreciate in the interest you all have in this project. Just thought you might like to know that.

That day changed my life...in a few months after 9/11 I was in Kabul as a Dutch soldier. Did 3 tours in Afghanistan. A few hours after the attacks, I was packing my gear. I will never forget that day and all the people that died.

if in one tiny way our interest in the tower and site is appreciated by you and all the others then all of this is worth it X 1000 , IMO,and if this is off topic and should be on another thread, i'm sorry
