A beautiful tower to rise in the spot where the twins before her once stood. Freedom can't be stopped.

As you guys speak, I am now watching this documentary on History Channel regarding the design and construction and installation process of the reflection fountains and the name tags of the victims and all else and it is so fascinating to watch this documentary.

Wow ... I am IMPRESSED least to say.

Thank God we have such genius minds like Mr. Michael Arad and Mr. Euser who are the masterminds behind the Waterfalls, the lighting, the dazzling effect of the park, the water, the different elements .. gosh ... I get emotional!

When I got off the plane in Newark last week, the first thing I looked for on the skyline was 1WTC and after over month away, it looked so massive and kind of reassuring on the Lower Manhattan skyline. It has really begun to dominate the NYC skyline even though the ESB continues to be taller.

Many say that pre 9/11 the twin towers where what basically said, welcome home. And the flat corners which shined in the sun.

That's why the new shape was chosen, it does the same thing as the chamfered corners of the old wtc

Today was a turning point for New York. People finally realized that "Ground Zero" doesn't exist anymore, and it's time to call the WTC by its name: World Trade Center site/plaza.

1WTC looks pretty tall and massive already, flanked by 4WTC which is also climbing up the sky. Everyone could see how the new WTC is regaining its status as the new tallest and mightiest skyscraper complex in NY and in the U.S..

The pools and Memorial look amazing, although they are not 100% finished. For sure, it will be a sight to behold and to pause for a moment in the everlasting stressful life of a metropolitan citizen.

The rise of NY has just begun.

About the trees @ desertpunk and others. I did some research and there is currently around 220 planted trees...but eventually there will be 400 so the amount of trees will almost be doubled when the entire site is finished. The species of trees are swamp white oaks which grow 20-25m tall and live for 300-350 years. They have a golden autumn color

I'm no expert but I think you are right. The massive cores with stairwells in them should secure that both the tower will remain standing after impact and that the stairwells will be free for folks to flee. Also it should be noted that what really killed the Twins weren't the airliners, it were the fires from their fuel which weakened the steel 'til the point of it collapsing. Then the towers progressively collapsed.

The Twins were especially vulnerable to fire cause they were steel only towers. Steel, while being stronger than concrete is very vulnerable to heat. Yup, they had fireproofing but that was blasted away, they also had sprinklers but their water pipes were severed by the planes.

The new WTC towers have a lot of concrete in their cores, so they aren't that vulnerable to heat. Also with their massive cores a plane couldn't sever the water pipes for the sprinklers. That plus the indestructibility of their cores and stairwells (by an airliner) mean they are far safer than the old Twins were, this time the WTC is prepared for planes and jet fuel

Important note: As I said earlier in this post, I'm no expert so if anybody has more precise or more accurate knowledge, please correct me

Yes, this tower could probably eat planes for breakfast, but I still don't want to imagine it ever happening.
