I was never close with him, but i wish Zensteeldude could see the pictures from the memorial and WTC1 now at supertall height. :-( He'd be amazed like all of us...

2001 feet is much too high for this tower, i think. Now it's fit well in the skyline.

I think there is no limit to a height. Taller looks better everywhere and in any case

He died in April or March. A car accident if I remember correctly.

Good thing most architects and designers don't. A 2000 feet needle would have looked horrible in my opinion. Other than completely useless, given the demand.

Yeah, a tower that is 1500 feet tall is horrible whith a spire to 2000 feet.

I know this has probably been shared before, but I couldn't help myself. One of my favorite renders of 1 WTC ever: http://news.thomasnet.com/IMT/midtown_view_to_WTC.jpg

It's an awesome rendering Though 3WTC looks like it has still the old X bracing design in it

I thought so too, They have been removed from the front, which cannot be seen in that render.

Any word yet on exactly what will be sheathing the "bunker"? I know they couldn't achieve satisfactory quality on the original prismatic glass they had planned for the base and were forced to find another material and supplier. How long might this delay the start of work on the base facade?

I thought they were removed from both the front and the back

OK, I didn't know that. How did you find out that?
Has his wife posted his "last post" with the info in?

Forget this question, I found the last post of his wife.
A little bit too late, and I don't want to warm up things, which are forgotten, but:
Rest in peace, Zensteeldude.
