For those who don't know, a snail's pace = normal time it takes to build a 1400' tower.

I think because of the damage to the area left after 9/11 and all the complications afterwards, we should expect the FT to take longer. But when its finished it will be fantastic!

How about, right now!

Although it hasn't been growing too fast until now, see the posts above!

It may seem slow, but I think they are making great progress. Cant wait to see the completed project in a few years.

WOW! That would be sweet!!!

The average speed of a common garden snail is 0.013 m/s or 0.78 meters per minute. At that pace the WTC1 would be completed in just 11 hours 56 minutes!

She's going to look amazing because the base is semi-see-through and you'll be able to see those massive steel columns around the perimeter of the tower.

Does anyone know if 1WTC will have columns that rise at an angle like the concrete columns in the Torre Espacio in Madrid? I would like to know more about FT’s structure, like if it will have any concrete columns or if it’s all steel except for the reinforced core and floor slabs. It would be cool to see a 3D model or pictures of this tower’s structure, but I don’t think such things exist.

I wonder what the steel substructure will look like when it's completed; the old 1WTC had sort of a below grade steel diagrid around the sides supporting the entire building.
