Dated?

the skyline may look a little date but have you noticed that built some of the best residential towers lately and that more are coming? the way I see it if most of what it proposed gets built and there is a 5 and 6 world trade center NYC will be on top once again. although I have more a bias towards Chicago.

As a monument to the 20th century New York will always be fantastic.
Those old, classic towers are what makes New York...New York. It wouldn't be the same without them. The same could be said for most of the US cities east of the Mississippi.

What is amazing about NYC is the old and new. I love that little church (St. Pauls) next to the Millenium Hilton. Some of the tombstones are so old, the names and dates are worn off. Then when you see an older skyscraper, the details are AMAZING. I like the glass, but love the old stuff.

1st quarter of 2012, around spring as they recently stated. But maybe if the weather permits it we will see it happening sooner than that!

Ok, question: By topping out do you mean the roof will have been reached, or the spire will have reached max-height?
If you meant the second, then I ask, when will the tower top off as far as the main building is concerned? i.e. everything aside from the spire

The roof will top out in early 2012 (as stated above), and it will take at least six months after that to finish the spire. That's assuming they don't delay the start of the spire for the completion of cladding, which they very well could do.
