I second that sentiment. My Aunt lived a few blocks away at 90 Gold Street (Southbridge Towers), right next to (at the present) the almost completed Beekman Tower, and I couldn't reach her for days! I finally made it to lower Manhattan a few days later, on Sunday ... Auntie was well, but a bit shaken up.

One World Trade Center is supposed to look like the former Twin Towers merged in one building, right? I'm so used to the idea that I can actually see it as the tower rises. I think it's the perfect tribute in a pure genious, sleek design.

For me, that's what so amazing about One WTC. A twin of it would just make no sense.

I've always loved the WTC, so at first that Ken Gardner proposal (btw, creepy memorial!) seemed to be the right thing to be built there. But it wouldn't be the "real" WTC. Unfortunately, 9/11 happened. I wish it didn't, but it did, so why not build something better?

I think anything taller would just look too tall and out of place, it feels just right to me as it is.

Come on!!! Step out of your box and learn something of the world outside the US. Dutch and German are as different as Danish ad German. All Germanic languages but very different in speach and grammar.

For someone who doesn't speak any of the languages, both are very similar. And you cannot expect everyone to know one of the languages. It even happens to me (I'm German) that I hear something in Dutch and only after a few sentences I discern that it's not German.

No need to be aggressive..

On topic: is there a core reconfiguration taking place right now, because they spend so much time with the columns around the center without erecting exterior columns?

I'm sorry if it's read to be aggresive. I'm only trying to say that sometimes Dutch is misunderstood with German throughout ignorance. The Netherlands are not a provence of Germany.

On topic: Beautiful pics of the marathon! I ran it in 2006 and I couldn't believe yesterday it has already been 5 years ago.
