Yes, it will also be possibly twice the size of the old world trade center. OR at least 1.5x the size due to shorter towers. I bet there will be a tower 6 that will be built at where the performing arts center will be. And the performing arts center will be the top of the tower.

True, but this is significantly late, and will be installed in the final stages of the building's interior being completed as opposed to around the time the building tops out.

Why would you post the PA cam when you can't see anything on it? Anyways, hearing that we won't see base cladding for 2 years has really upset me. I was hoping we'd see it in just a few months! I also hope they put in the floor decking fast and put up 2 more floors. At the 91st floor would it have surpassed BofA?

The public was given a sneak peek Tuesday of what the base of the new One World Trade Center will look like once it’s completed in 2013.

The new design for the exterior cladding on One World Trade Center features horizontal stainless steel panels behind vertical glass fins going up the 20 stories of the fortress-like base.

“They will reflect light during the day and the night and give the building’s base a distinctive look,” said Port Authority executive director Patrick Foye on Tuesday. “In the evening, the combination of the water and the lights on the memorial pools we think, frankly, will be picked up by the glass on the podium at One World Trade Center and it’s consistent with the overall aesthetic of the site.”

Foye calls the concept superior aesthetically and cost-effective.

“It is going to save the Port Authority about $8-to-$12 million and the product will be manufactured by an Italian company located in Greenwich and Windsor, Connecticut,” he said on Tuesday.

The base on the glass renders seems to be missing the tapering on the corners, is that the way they're gonna do it or is it just a faulty render?

Edit: Beat to it, lol

If you read the article in WNY you will see that they cut the corners out of the base design. Its a shame, since now those triangles at the base are useless.
