I didn't like the tapering in towards the bottom. I like the new design better.

It seems more out of place now, too square

And the diagonal columns cannot be seen anymore, like they could in the old render.

Whatever. It's just the podium, the important that the building is being built.

The new base design is awesome. The building already tapers enough. Besides, the building will look more massive from the ground and will give the viewer a better view of the full 205' wide footprint.

So are they going to tear down the current corners to make way for the new design or are they going to leave them there? I feel the taper corners are better, more remeniscent of the Old Twin Towers. Oh well, the new cladding looks like the old twins anyways.

Columns wll stay as they are, fins will only cover the chamfered corners.

Something like this:

Regarding the new base cladding, I think it is a nice nod to the twin towers. square and vertical lines.

Sorry there, Otie. ^^; Guess I should have kept my mouth shut. I just assumed it was a mistake like in the new Tower 3 illustration (it shows an inaccurate profile of Tower 2).

It does look beautiful in that rendering; like a castle in the sky.

I agree, this new design looks great! I really disliked those Charlie Brown zig-zaggy designs on the base too, so I'm glad that will be masked.

Are we talking about this previous version?

The new look is quite an improvement, I think.

I also did a quick model of what we can expect from the new base design. I will post a better render later, when i finish all the details, and set the colors right.

The aerial photos are perfect for determining the progress of construction. I hope we'll continue to see such photos in the future cause they are awesome

google Sketchup 8 and kerkythea, plus Photoshop cs5 for the cropping . The modelling took me 10 minutes, the rendering 3 hours, fml.
